Alas, the links don't work...

1. http://www.ubu.com/film/mclaren_lines.html
Mclaren's animation usually have a lot of continuing and seemingly never ending scenes. What grabbed me about this one is that he really didn't break the boundaries he set for himself, everything is constant, repetitive, and easy. This is interpreted as a visual flow of extreme simplicity to simplicity.

2. http://www.ubu.com/sound/lynch.html
This interview with lynch is very abrupt, there isn't an explanation of what it is, but it is understood through time. the rise of the ambiance in certain parts was unnerving, a lot like lynch himself. these segments seemed to highlight the words spoken, as a traditional poem might bring about an atmosphere, this poem provided it.

Just as poets experiment with language this animation experiments with the elements of visual communication. time, frame rate, sound color all translate a different message to the audience.

4. http://ubumexico.centro.org.mx/video/Breer-Robert_LMNO_1978.mpg
LMNO is a narrative that introduces a train of thought through out, the language it uses is littoral and metaphorical. though it can be read as nonsocial, i think it is as nonsensical as an exquisite corps. It has connection in-between random ideas.

I was drawn to this animation because of the way in communicated the story, not through comprehendible imagery but by the movement of imagery. using a continuous line and specifying the feeling through sound.

6. http://www.ubu.com/sound/schafer.html
Schafer used familiar symphonies that i can help but find harmony in their chaos. almost as if he is letting the listener to find the communication that apples the most to them.

7. http://www.ubu.com/sound/mossolov.html
I chose this because it followed a lot of the principles that seem to appeal to me, limitation, continuance and repetition, but this peace uses it language for a set feeling rather than communication that can be widely interpreted.

8. http://www.ubu.com/ethno/visuals/shaker01.html
Though this uses english alphabets the language used is the visual harmony of typography and doodles. separating the preconceptions of alphabets and creating its own vernacular. it has an interesting flow from large font and large space to small type and no space.

Skating as poetry appealed to me because it is an endless flow of response to a beat. ella has full control of what she is saying an no control at all, it end when she wants it to end and when it feels correct to end it.

10. http://ubumexico.centro.org.mx/text/vp/finch_typewriter_poems_1972.pdf

Typewriters have always been appealing to me because of its limitations, the ribbon the typeface the font and sometimes the page. the typewriter poems were a great example of chaotic communication out of minimalism.
